March 1, 2007 -- The
Oberlin College Men's Tennis team defeated visiting
Mount Union, 5-4, in a non-conference match at the
Heisman Fieldhouse this evening to win its fourth
in a row. The Yeomen improved to 4-1 overall (1-0 NCAC),
while the Purple Raiders fell to 3-2 overall.
Led by junior Chris Pray and sophomore
David Midler, the Yeomen took the first three singles
matches and first two doubles matches to seal the victory.
Pray downed Mount Union's Kyle Moreland (6-1, 7-5)
in first singles action, while Midler beat Travis Papay
(6-0, 6-0) in second singles action.
In first doubles, Pray teamed up with
junior Colin Burling to defeat Travis Papay and Jimmy
Jeffries, 8-1, while Midler and junior Ezra Goldman
took the second doubles match against Kyle Moreland
and Brian Belconis, 8-5.
Oberlin will play its second NCAC match
Saturday, March 3, when it hosts Ohio Wesleyan University
at 2:00 p.m. in the Heisman Fieldhouse.
