Men's Tennis Wins Third Straight Match with 7-2 Victory over Wittenberg University

February 25, 2007 -- Oberlin's men's tennis team stayed red hot this afternoon by topping host Wittenberg University, 7-2. The North Coast Athletic Conference win was the Yeomen's (3-1, 1-0 NCAC) third straight victory and their first in league play. Wittenberg slipped to 0-3 (0-1 NCAC) with the loss.

Oberlin won all but one singles match and two out of three doubles contests. Juniors Chris Pray, Ezra Goldman, and Colin Burling, senior Arthur Zeyda, and sophomore David Midler were all victories in singles action. Pray lost the first set to Wittenberg's Brad Seymour in number one singles, but he rallied to win the second set, 6-3, and the third super set, 10-4. At number two singles, Midler downed Craig Lods, 6-0, 6-3, while Colin Burling defeated Andrew Young in third singles, 6-1, 6-3. Pray, Midler, and Burling are all 4-0 on the year.

In first doubles action, Pray and Burling (4-0) bested Seymour and Lods, 8-3, while Goldman and Midler (2-0) were victorious in second doubles, 8-2.

The Yeomen will host Mt. Union College on March 1 for their next match (6:30 p.m.).
