April 27, 2007 -- The
Oberlin College men's tennis team began competition today at the NCAC Tournament in Granville, Ohio. This morning the Yeomen fell to Allegheny, 2-5, but bounced back and defeated Wittenberg, 5-0.
Leading the Yeomen this morning was junior Chris Pray, who defeated Allegheny's Matt Chiricosta, 6-1, 7-6 (7-1). Pray and junior Colin Burling defeated Matt Chiricosta and Andrew Zipf, 8-4, in doubles action.
This afternoon, Oberlin took all three doubles matches and two of the six singles matches. Four singles matches went unfinished. Doubles winners verse Wittenberg were Burling and Pray, sophomore David Midler and junior Ezra Goldman, and senior Arthur Zeyda and junior Tom Page. Singles winners included Pray and Zeyda.
Oberlin returns to action tomorrow when plays Wabash College. The match is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. in Granville, Ohio.
