Earlham Upsets Oberlin Men's Soccer Team, 2-1 (Overtime)

October 6, 2007 -- The Oberlin men's soccer team traveled to Richmond, Ind., this afternoon looking to pick up its third North Coast Athletic Conference victory of the 2007 season. The host Earlham Quakers had other plans in mind, though, as they edged the Yeomen in overtime, 2-1. With the loss, Oberlin slipped to 6-4-3 overall and 1-2-1 in league play. Earlham improved to 5-8 overall and 1-2 in the NCAC.

Oberlin trailed today at the half, 0-1, but an Evan Atwell goal (Skyler Dum assist) tied the game at 1-1 with just over 30 minutes left in regulation. Neither team could score the game-winner in regulation, but Earlham's Bannett Asingura scored his second goal of the game 6:26 into overtime to seal the win for the Quakers.

The Yeomen out-shot the Quakers 16-12 and held an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Oberlin will look to get back into the win column on October 10 when it travels to Denison University at 7:00 p.m.
