-- It has been 15 games since the Oberlin men's soccer lost at home - the Yeomen extended their unbeaten streak today by defeating Allegheny College, 1-0, at Fred Shults Field. Oberlin improved to 6-2-2 (1-0-0 NCAC) with the North Coast Athletic Conference win, while the Gators slipped to 6-5 (1-1 NCAC) with the loss.
Oberlin scored its only goal of the game just 2:45 into the contest. Junior Zach Lewis knocked in the game-winner off an assist from first-year David Lowe. Allegheny threatened numerous times the rest of the way, but first-year goalkeeper Zach Lipshultz and the Yeomen's defense stood strong and kept the visitors off the scoreboard. Lipshultz picked up his fourth shutout of the season with the win in goal.
The Yeomen out-shot Allegheny, 7-6, and the Gators had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. Five different Gators had shots, while Lewis was the Oberlin player with more than one shot.
Oberlin will look to continue its winning ways at home on Saturday when it hosts NCAC rival Ohio Wesleyan University at 2:00 p.m. To view all of the homecoming activities, click here.
