Oberlin Men's Soccer Team Falls in Overtime to Wabash, 1-2; Yeomen Finish 2007 Season with Seven Victories

October 27, 2007 -- Head Coach Blake New's Oberlin men's soccer team hosted North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wabash College (Ind.) this afternoon. The Little Giants narrowly defeated the Yeomen in overtime, 2-1. After the defeat at Fred Shults Field, Oberlin finishes its 2007 season with an overall record of 7-8-3 (2-6-1 NCAC).

Today's loss served as a microcosm for the season for the Yeomen. Oberlin had its chances to put Wabash away but just wasn't quite able to finish. The Yeomen's lone goal was scored by John Lindner.

The Yeomen, who made the NCAC semifinals last season and defeated two of the conference's top four teams this year, were plagued by injuries throughout the 2007 campaign. Oberlin lost in overtime to the NCAC's second-place team and fell just 0-1 to the conference's first-place team. Injuries to five key players, including at goal, were difficult for New's team to overcome despite strong depth.

The young Oberlin team will look to regroup in 2008 and continue its push towards the top of the NCAC's standings.
