-- Oberlin College traveled to Mt. Union College this evening to face the Purple Raiders in a non-conference game under the lights in Alliance, Ohio.
Oberlin struck first tonight off a corner kick 26:30 into the contest. Junior Sam Zackheim scored the goal, while senior tri-captain Montgomery Lobe provided the assist. Mt. Union's Steve Gillespie scored an unassisted goal 11 minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.
The Yeomen dominated the scoring opportunities in both overtimes, with perhaps their best chance to win occurring in the first extra period. First-year Skyler Dum and sophomore Luke Hoffman both had shots saved by Purple Raider keeper Eric Sebor.
For the game, Oberlin out-shot Mt. Union 18-10 and had seven kicks to Mt. Union's four. With the double-overtime tie, Oberlin's record now stands at 1-0-2, while Mt. Union is currently 0-1-1.
The men's soccer team will return to action on Sunday when it travels to Anderson University for a 1:00 p.m. game.
