March 12 – Oberlin College head men’s soccer coach Blake New will host three camps this summer for players of all ages.
-- Following a vote by North Coast Athletic Conference coaches, four Oberlin men’s soccer players were named to the 2007 All-NCAC team. The squad finished with seven victories, including wins over two of the conference's top four teams.
-- Not many college athletes make the transition from Division III to Division I in their senior year, but that is exactly what Ross Myers did this fall when he transferred to Columbia University. Myers had a stellar three-year career with the Oberlin men’s soccer team, but switched to Columbia as part of the 3-2 engineering program and earned a spot on the men’s soccer team.
In 2006, Myers started all 18 games for the Yeomen at defense and received honorable mention All-NCAC accolades and team defensive MVP honors for his performance. Myers was able to parlay this success into earning a spot on Columbia’s roster and he has seen action in a handful of games this season for the Lions, who finish their 2007 campaign on November 17 against Brown University.

North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wabash College
(Ind.) this afternoon. The Little Giants narrowly defeated
the Yeomen in overtime, 2-1. After the defeat at Fred
Shults Field, Oberlin finishes its 2007 season with
an overall record of 7-8-3 (2-6-1 NCAC).
-- Kenyon College visited Oberlin this afternoon for a North Coast Athletic Conference men's soccer contest at Fred Shults Field. The Yeomen put up a valiant effort against the Lords; however, the visitors were able to score 18 minutes into the first overtime to secure a 1-0 victory over the Yeomen.
-- Oberlin traveled to Hiram this afternoon for a North Coast Athletic Conference men's soccer contest. The Yeomen were unable to overcome two first-half goals by the Terriers as the hosts claimed a 2-1 league victory. Hiram improved to 11-3-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the NCAC with the win, while Head Coach Blake New's Yeomen fell to 7-6-3 (2-4-1 NCAC).
October 15 -- John Lindner, a junior midfielder for the Oberlin men's soccer team, was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading the Yeomen past Wittenberg University this past Saturday. Lindner scored the game-winner to give Oberlin 2-1 triumph over the Tigers, who entered the contest ranked 14th in the nation.
With less than seven minutes left in a 1-1 tied match against Wittenberg, Lindner, a native of Hanover Park, Ill. (Glenbard North High School), controlled an unsettled ball in the box and slammed in the game-winning goal for the Yeomen. He will look to lead Oberlin past Hiram College on October 20 at 2:00 p.m. |
