Head Coach
Kevin Walz

Kevin Walz was named Oberlin's head men's lacrosse coach before the 2005 season. His leadership on the sideline, his positive relationship with Oberlin student-athletes, and his tireless recruiting efforts have the Yeomen program on an upswing in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

In 2005, Walz guided four Oberlin players to All-NCAC honors and led his team to several significant statistical improvements. Will Jaffee and Bryan Harfenist ranked among the NCAC scoring leaders, while goalkeeper Jared Pickard finished near the top in save percentage. Defenseman Max Braun assisted Pickard by keeping opponents off-balance all season.

"I am thrilled to be involved with athletics at such an outstanding institution," Walz says. "Our team will partner with the Oberlin alumni, faculty, and administration to fulfill the vision for an outstanding lacrosse program."

Walz began his Oberlin career as an assistant coach from 2002 to 2004. He played at St. Mary's University in Winona, Minnesota, serving as captain for three seasons. Walz displayed his athletic versatility by playing attack, midfield, and defense for the Cardinals. He subsequently served as head coach at St. Mary's for three seasons. Walz has coached high school lacrosse in Minnesota and led a state 17-and-under team to the Vail Shootout for six season.

"Our team is dedicated to commitment and responsibility," Walz says of his Oberlin squad. "We will build upon our passion for the game to create a unified, dedicated team capable of outstanding performances, and we will have fun with the process along the way."

A 2001 graduate of Winona State University, Walz earned his bachelor's degree in history. He was married this past summer in Michigan City, Indiana. Walz and his wife, Kris, reside in Oberlin.
