April 5 – In search of their first win of the season, the Oberlin College men’s lacrosse team came up just short - finding themselves on the wrong end of a 13-11 decision against Mount St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon at Savage Stadium.
Sophomore Erik Strand led the Yeomen with five goals on the day, while first-year Rob Bond and sophomore Nick Sherman added two each. For the second-straight game, Drew Zambelli did an outstanding job manning the cage as he registered 18 saves.
The score was knotted up at 11 in the final five minutes, but the Lions scored two quick goals to take the lead. In the two minutes the Yeomen had a control of the ball in Lions’ territory, however, five their final eight attempts went off of the post, while the other three went wide – allowing CMSJ to escape with the win.
Oberlin will return to action on Wednesday, April 9, at Denison University. The opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
