April 9 – The Oberlin College men’s lacrosse team was unable to establish any consistent offense as they fell to the Denison University Big Red, 27-3, on Wednesday night in Granville, Ohio
Oberlin (0-5) fell behind early and could never dig itself out as the Denison defense limited the Yeomen to just 19 shots, while the Big Red triggered 65 attempts on the night.
Erik Strand scored two of Oberlin’s goals, while Rob Bond added one of his own. Playing 45 minutes in the cage, senior Drew Zambelli registered 13 saves.
Denison (8-2) grabbed a 13-2 half-time lead and never looked back as they kept the offensive pressure on the rest of the way.
The Big Red also controlled the hustle stats with a 54-20 advantage on ground balls and also won 19 of the game’s 33 face-offs.
The Yeomen will look to regroup on Saturday, when Wittenberg invades Savage Stadium for a 1 p.m. dual.
