Oberlin Men's Lacrosse Team Defeats Mount St. Joseph, 18-11

April 11, 2007 -- The Yeomen picked up their second win the year today by downing Mount St. Joseph, 18-11, in a non-conference contest in Cincinnati, Ohio. Oberlin is now 2-5 on the year, while Mount St. Joseph slipped to 1-9.

Oberlin jumped out to a quick 5-3 lead at the end of the first quarter today, and then to a 10-6 advantage at the intermission. Six goals in the third quarter helped seal the seven-goal win for the Yeomen.

Leading Oberlin was Nick Sherman, who notched six goals. Alex Jacobs, Erik Strand, and Jesse Kane each had three goals, while Bryan Harfenist scored twice and Ian Mark also added a goal. Derry Kiernan scooped up a game-best five ground balls, while Kane won nine faceoffs. Drew Zambelli racked up 14 saves to earn the win in goal.

Mount St. Joseph was led by Kristopher Kalin's three goals.

Oberlin will play next on April 15 in a non-conference home game against Medaille College at 1:00 p.m.
