-- Denison University scored the first nine goals of today's North Coast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse game at Oberlin and never looked back, earning a 20-4 victory at Savage Stadium. First-years Nick Sherman and Erik Strand both scored two goals for the Yeomen, who slipped to 3-8 overall and 0-4 in league play. The Big Red improved to 10-2 overall (3-0 NCAC) with the win.
Denison played the entire 60 minutes of today's game without committing a penalty, and out-shot the Yeomen 55-19. The ground ball totals were fairly even, with Oberlin scooping up 26 and Denison picking up 37. The Big Red were 4-8 in extra-man opportunities.
Pacing Denison's scoring was Brady Burton, who netted a game-high five goals. Sophomore quad-captain Jesse Kane had a strong all-around game for Oberlin as he won nine face-offs and racked up six ground balls. The Yeomen's Alex Jacobs also passed for two assists. After a two-game absence due to injury, junior goalkeeper Drew Zambelli returned to action for Oberlin, racking up 13 saves in 60 minutes of work.
The Yeomen will play their last home game of the season on April 29 against Colorado College at 11:00 a.m.
