Division-I Member Yale Tops the Yeomen

Final Stats

January 12 – The homecoming for head coach Isaiah Cavaco didn’t turn out they way he would have liked as the Oberlin College Yeomen fell to Division-I member Yale, 92-41, on Saturday afternoon at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.

The Yeomen (3-10) got off to a great start as Ryan Magiera scored five-straight points to get Oberlin within four, 26-22, with 6:35 left in the first half. However, from then on the Yeomen offense went very cold from the floor to allow Yale (6-8) to take control of the game.

Oberlin native Jordan Beard led the Yeomen with 15 points, while Magiera ended with 10 of his own.

The Bulldogs were able to use their distinct size advantage over the Yeomen as they cashed in 50 of their 92 points in the paint and won the rebounding battle 45-17.

The Yeomen will return to conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 16, when Allegheny College comes to town. The game, which is scheduled to tip at 8 p.m., will be the nightcap of a double-header with the women’s team as they too will do battle with Allegheny at 6 p.m.
