Blake New became the head coach of the men's golf team in 2002. He brings a professional knowledge of the game to Oberlin, and he has spent over 10 years teaching golf both to newcomers and seasoned players.
New began his career at the Family Golf Center in Brecksville, Ohio, where he worked for two years teaching 30 lessons per week. He then became the first assistant professional at the Oberlin Country Club. New served in that capacity until he helped revive the Oberlin men’s golf program in 2002.
New, who also heads the men’s soccer program, is a 1991 graduate of Cleveland State University, where he holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing. He earned his master’s degree a year later in sport management. A former professional soccer player, New was drafted by the Cleveland Crunch following his collegiate career. New resides in North Ridgeville with his wife Jessa and daughter, Madalyn.
