Golf Rest in Tenth After Day One of Strimer Memorial Invitational

Day One Results (.pdf)

April 12 – Playing in their first tournament of the season, the Oberlin College golf team had a solid showing on day one of the Strimer Memorial Invitational, ending in 10th place with 361 strokes.

All the players in the field were dealing with wet course conditions and a stiff wind throughout the day as no player reached par on the day. However, the non-ideal conditions didn’t seem to phase the Yeomen’s Matt Aucunas as he sits 22nd
overall after firing off an opening-round 81 (41-40).

Austin Richards is tied for 62 placed after carding in a 19-over par score of 90 (46-44) on the par-71, 6,807 yard course. Same Zackheim  is just four shots back of Richards in 66th place after he tallied a first-round score of 94 (49-45).

Saul Flores recorded 96 (46-50) strokes to end the day in a tie for 68th and D.J. Maynard completes the Oberlin scorecard in 71st place.

The host school, Ohio Wesleyan, currently leads the event with 299 total strokes. The second final round will get underway tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. EST.
