Yeomen Finish Twelfth at Nye Intercollegiate

The Oberlin College golf team completed its second tournament of the spring with a 12th-place finish at the Nye Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon.

The Yeomen ended with 720 (358-362) strokes as team after they fired off 362 shots on Sunday.

D.J. Maynard was Oberlin’s top finisher as he tied for 48th place by shaving two strokes of off his day-one total to finish with 174 (88-86) total tallies. Matt Aucunas ended just one shot back with a mark of 175 (84-91) – tying for 51st place.

Saul Flores improved on his opening-round 90, subtracting one stroke on Sunday to end tied for 57th with 179 (90-89) strokes.

Austin Richard matched his first-round score of 96 for total of 192 (96-96) to place 62nd and Ron Rupard completed the Oberlin scorecard in 66th place.

Ohio Wesleyan claimed the top team prize with a score of 603 (303-300) and Mike Wolfe of Allegheny took medalist honors by carding in a 147 (73-74) on the weekend.

The golf team will take next weekend off, before taking part in the NCAC Championships on May 3-4.
