Golf Completes Day One of Nye Invitational

The Oberlin College men’s golf team sits in 12th place after one round of the Nye Invitational, hosted by Wooster.

Oberlin fired off 358 strokes as a team on Saturday. Matt Aucunas is leading the way for the Yeomen after he carded in an opening-round 84 (43-41) to rest tied for 42nd.

D.J. Maynard sits four shots back of Aucunas after he posted a day-one total of 88 (43-45), while Saul Flores is close behind with a 90 (42-48) as both players are tied for 52nd and 55th respectively.

Austin Richards (96 = 46-50) and Ron Rupard (112 = 51-61) round out the Oberlin scorecard.

Ohio Wesleyan is currently leading the event with 303 strokes, while Olivet College is in a close second with 306 strokes.

Round two will get underway tomorrow morning at the par-72, 6,455 yard course.
