July 11, 2007 -- Senior free safety Chase Palmer was recently named a first team preseason All-American by Street and Smith's Magazine. A native of Highland, Utah and junior season transfer to Oberlin from Snow College, Palmer's debut campaign with the Yeomen in 2006 was nothing short of impressive.

Palmer led all North Coast Athletic Conference defensive backs in tackles (106) and finished second overall in the conference in the same category. Additionally, he paced the conference in interceptions (five) and total passes defended.

The expectations are high in 2007 for Palmer and the Oberlin football team, and certainly for good reason. With the 6'3, 215 pound former junior college All-American leading the way, the Yeomen return 19 of 22 starters from last year's team that went 4-3 in league play.
