Eight Yeomen named to all-conference team
November 21, 2007 -- Eight Oberlin College football players were recently named All-North Coast Athletic Conference after incredible seasons for Head Coach Jeff Ramsey. The Yeomen compiled a 5-2 record in conference play, good for third place, and shattered over 30 records during the 2007 campaign.
R.V. Carroll, a junior running back from Perry, Ohio, was named the NCAC's Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in rushing (103.8 yards per game), scoring (9.8 points per game), and touchdowns (16). He is the first Oberlin player to ever lead the NCAC in any of the three categories. Carroll, who moves to the first team after earning second team recognition in 2006, was the only 1,000-yard rusher in the NCAC this season, compiling 1,038 yards on the ground.
Also receiving first team All-NCAC honors were senior wide receiver Chris Schubert (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin), senior defensive back Chase Palmer (Highland, Utah/Lone Peak), and senior defensive lineman Chris Pisani (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick).
Schubert received the first team nod at both wide receiver and return specialist. At wide receiver, he was a second team selection in both 2006 and 2005, while as a return specialist, he received first team honors in 2005 and second team accolades in 2006 and 2004.
Palmer was a second team all-league selection last season. This year, he led all NCAC defensive backs with 103 tackles. Pisani was a first team selection in 2006 and a second team pick in 2005. In 2007, he was fourth in the conference in tackles for loss.
Mark Miller, a senior offensive lineman from Sandusky, Ohio, was Oberlin's lone pick to the NCAC's second team. Receiving honorable mention accolades were junior quarterback Greg Mangan (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius), senior center Caleb Buck (Wakeman, Ohio/Western Reserve), and senior defensive back Cody Hartley (Freedom, Pa./Freedom Area.)
