October 6, 2007 -- Head Coach Jeff Ramsey's Oberlin football team continued its impressive play in the North Coast Athletic Conference today by defeating Denison University in Granville, Ohio, 34-27. The Yeomen now remain undefeated in the NCAC (2-0) and sport a 2-3 overall record. The Denison Big Red dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Oberlin had one of its best quarters in recent memory by racking up 24 points in the opening period. In the first half, junior running back R.V. Carroll rushed for touchdowns of 30 yards and one yard, senior wide receiver Cassius Harris caught touchdown passes of 22 yards and 59 yards from junior quarterback Greg Mangan, and first-year Zach Richard booted his first collegiate field goal from 37 yards out. Denison scored just once in the half to enter the intermission trailing 7-31.

In the second half, the Big Red rallied back for 12 points in the third quarter and eight in the fourth. Oberlin's only points of the second half came courtesy of a 29-yard field goal by Richard. Trailing by just seven points, Denison had the ball on its own 28-yard line with 52 seconds left in the contest. On second down, though, senior strong safety Chase Palmer picked off Tom Simeone's pass to seal the Yeomen's victory.
