Schubert, Pisani and Tomlinson Named Pre-Season All-Americans by Don Hansen's Football Gazette

August 9, 2006 -- Three Yeomen football players, juniors Chris Schubert and Chris Pisani and senior Mike Tomlinson, recently received honorable mention pre-season All-American honors from Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette.

“This prestigious award is a credit not just to the individual players receiving the award, but to the team and all of their hard work,”  said Head Coach Jeff Ramsey. “The honor is an example of their performance, dedication, and commitment to excellence.  They are great students, great athletes, and great people truly deserving of the award.”

Schubert, Oberlin's most dangerous threat on offense, led the NCAC with 65 receptions and also had 777 yards receiving and six touchdowns. He paced Oberlin with an average of nearly 28 yards per kick return last season. His 1,673 all-purpose yards led the NCAC in 2005 and set a school record. Last Season, Schubert was named first team All-NCAC kick return and second team All-NCAC receiver.

Chris Pisani moved from tight end to defensive end from his freshmen year to sophomore year and quickly found a home.  Pisani set the single-season school record for sacks (13.5), smashing the old record of nine, while also totaling 45.5 total tackles and 19.5 tackles for a loss.  Pisani has already become one of the Yeomen’s impact defensive players and promises to give opposing offenses problems for the next two years.

Mike Tomlinson's efforts have allowed Oberlin to continue to be atop the NCAC at the kicking position. His eight field goals and 21 extra points were crucial for the 2005 Yeomen, who found themselves in a plethora of close games.  Tomlinson made NCAC headlines when he set the conference and Oberlin record for the longest field goal with a 55-yarder against Macalester (Minn.) on Sept. 10.
