January 29, 2007 -- Two members of the Oberlin football squad were recently named to the Don Hansen National Weekly Football Gazette's Division III All-America Team. R.V. Carroll, a sophomore running back from Perry, Ohio (Perry High School) and Chase Palmer, a junior defensive back from Highland, Utah (Snow College), were named third team and honorable mention, respectively.
Carroll
re-wrote Oberlin's rushing record book this
season, breaking a number of marks, including yardage in a game (336)
and season (1,280). He gained 166.7 total yards per game this season, good for third in the North Coast Athletic Conference, and was second in the league in rushing with 128 yards per contest.
Palmer
was stellar in his debut season at Oberlin, leading all NCAC
defensive backs in tackles (106) and finishing second overall in the
conference in the same category. Palmer also paced the NCAC in
interceptions (five) and total passes defended.
