Chris Schubert Named Second Team All-North Region by D3football.com

December 13, 2006 -- Chris Schubert, a junior on the Oberlin football team, was recently named to D3football.com's 2006 All-North Region Team. A native of Oberlin, Schubert received second team accolades as a return specialist after leading the Yeomen to a 5-5 season and a fourth-place finish (4-3 record) in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

An explosive punt and kick returner and wide receiver for Head Coach Jeff Ramsey, Schubert broke Oberlin's career records for punt and kick return yardage this year, with still another season of eligibility remaining. As a wide receiver, Schubert led the team with nine touchdown receptions and was second on the squad with 49 receptions and 620 yards. During the 2006 campaign, he returned 18 punts for 171 yards and a touchdown and 32 kicks for 565 yards (second in the NCAC). Schubert also finished the year ranked fifth in the conference in all-purpose yards (1,367).

Several weeks ago, Schubert received second team All-NCAC honors as a wide receiver and return specialist. He currently has 141 career receptions, third all-time at Oberlin, and needs 73 next season to pass Felix Brooks-Church (1995-98) and become the Yeomen's all-time leading receptions leader. Additionally, he needs just two more touchdown catches to become the career leader in that category, and could become the school's overall career touchdown leader if he reaches the end zone 11 times next season. Sophomore running back R.V. Carroll is currently one touchdown behind Schubert (21). After a 2006 season in which 22 school records were broken, Schubert and company plan to make next season an exciting one for Oberlin football fans.
