November 22, 2006 -- After a vote conducted by the North Coast Athletic Conference's coaches, seven members of the Oberlin College football team received All-NCAC accolades. The Yeomen, who finished the 2006 season with a 5-5 overall record, the team's best since 2003, broke 22 school records this season. Chris Pisani (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick), a junior defensive lineman, was Oberlin's lone pick to the NCAC's first team. Pisani is the Yeomen's all-time leader in sacks (19), and he tallied 55 tackles and team-highs of 12 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks this year.
Earning second team All-NCAC honors were sophomore running back R.V. Carroll, junior wide receiver and specialist Chris Schubert, and junior defensive back Chase Palmer. Carroll (Perry, Ohio/Perry) re-wrote Oberlin's rushing record book this season, breaking a plethora of marks, including yardage in a game (336) and season (1,280). Schubert (Oberlin, Ohio/Oberlin) snagged 49 catches for 620 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while also breaking the career records for punt and kick return yardage. Palmer (Highland, Utah/Lone Peak), a transfer from Snow College in Utah, was impressive in his debut season at Oberlin, leading all NCAC defensive backs in tackles (106) and finishing second overall in the conference in the same category. Palmer also paced the NCAC in interceptions (five) and total passes defended.
Juniors Cassius Harris (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) and Mark Miller (Sandusky, Ohio/Sandusky) and sophomore LaKristopher Devant (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) each received honorable mention All-NCAC accolades. Harris led the Yeomen in receptions (53) and receiving yards (833), finishing fourth and third in the conference in the two categories, respectively. Miller helped the Yeomen's offensive line pave the way for an historic offensive season. Oberlin set school records in points (262), touchdowns (37), and first downs (193) after the 2006 campaign. Devant also had an impressive season as a linebacker for Head Coach Jeff Ramsey, accumulating 50 tackles (6.5 for a loss), 1.5 sacks, a blocked kick, six pass breakups, and two interceptions (one for a touchdown).
