Field Hockey Falls to #11 William Smith, 1-7

September 15, 2007 -- In the first game of the Heron Invitational, the 11th-ranked William Smith College field hockey team defeated Oberlin, 7-1, at McCooey Field. With the victory, the Herons improved to 3-0, while the Yeowomen fell to 3-3.

The Yeowomen, who were out-shot by the Herons 5-27 in the game, became the first team to score on William Smith this season when sophomore Catherine Meredith drove the ball past goalkeeper Katie DeKraker with 23 minutes to go, making it 1-7. Oberlin goalkeeper Lauren Malinowski saved 11 shots in 70 minutes of action.
