-- Everything was even in today's North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey contest between Oberlin College and Wittenberg University except the final score. The Yeowomen and Tigers both tallied 11 shots and four penalty corners in the match, but host Wittenberg was able to score early in the second half to secure a 1-0 victory in Springfield, Ohio.
With the loss, Oberlin slid to 7-10 overall and 6-5 in league play on the year. Wittenberg improved to 10-6 overall and 7-5 in the North Coast.
Standouts for Oberlin today included Abigail Brox, who had a defensive save, and Christine Politis, who led the Yeowomen with three shots. Lauren Malinowski saved three shots in goal.
The Tigers were paced by Tori Casanta, who scored the game-winning goal 47:56 into the contest. Liana Began earned the shutout win in goal by saving four shots in 70 minutes of action.
Next up for Oberlin is a home contest on Saturday against NCAC rival Denison University at noon.
