Oberlin Blanks Denison University, 1-0, for NCAC Victory

October 6, 2007 -- Head Coach Deb Ranieri and the Oberlin field hockey team blanked host Denison University tonight in Granville, Ohio, 1-0. With the win, Oberlin improved to 5-7 overall and 4-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. The Big Red slipped to 4-7 overall and 3-3 in league play with the shutout loss.

Senior Lauren Malinowski led the Yeowomen today by tallying 11 saves in goal en route to the shutout victory. Additionally, Malinowski saved a Denison penalty shot. Offensively, Abigail Brox scored the game-winner for the Yeowomen midway through the first half.

Despite the loss, Denison out-shot Oberlin 14-9 and had eight more penalty corner opportunities than the Yeowomen.

Oberlin will look to win its third straight NCAC game when it travels to Kenyon College on October 10.
