-- The field hockey team kicked off its 2007 North Coast Athletic Conference schedule this afternoon with an exciting 3-2 win over Ohio Wesleyan University. Senior midfielder Kaitlin Barrer scored the game-winner 9:22 into overtime to help the Yeowomen improve to 2-1 on the year. The Battling Bishops slipped to 1-2 (0-1 NCAC) with the loss.
Despite dominating Ohio Wesleyan in nearly every statistical category, the visitors scored two late goals in the second half to rebound from a 0-2 halftime deficit. First-years Taylor Rogers (Ashley Allen assist) and Julie Goodwin scored the Yeowomen's other two goals.
Oberlin out-shot Ohio Wesleyan 25-8 and held a 14-8 advantage in penalty corners. Ohio Wesleyan keeper Katie Jones racked up 13 saves, while Oberlin's Lauren Malinowski saved four shots in goal.
For their next game, the Yeowomen will host Earlham College on September 8 at noon.
