Head Coach Deb Ranieri's Oberlin field hockey team
defeated visiting Denison University this afternoon,
2-1, qualifying for the North Coast Athletic Conference
tournament. The Yeowomen improved to 8-10 overall and
7-5 in the NCAC with the victory.
On senior day in Oberlin, it was none other than senior
Kaitlin Barrer who led the Yeowomen to the win. Barrer
scored both of Oberlin's goals, including the game-winner
7:30 left in the contest. Senior Christine Politis
and junior Abigail Brox both had assists for Oberlin
as well.
The Yeowomen were out-shot by Denison, 17-18, but
had a 12-10 advantage in penalty corners. Senior Lauren
Malinowski had a great game in goal, saving 13 saves
in 70 minutes of action.
Denison was led by Brittany Paquette, who scored her
team's lone goal.
Oberlin will begin play in the NCAC tournament on
Wednesday, October 31, at Wittenberg University.
