August 31, 2006 -- Oberlin, the defending North Coast Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champion, was picked by the conference's field hockey coaches to repeat as NCAC champions in 2006. The Yeowomen, who return 10 letter winners and five starters from last year's squad, received four first-place votes and 41 total points in the preseason poll.

Oberlin concluded the 2005 campaign with a 16-5 overall mark and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Abigail Brox, the 2005 NCAC Newcomer of the Year and conference leader in goals scored, will lead the Yeowomen in their season opener tomorrow afternoon against Sewanee, the University of the South (Tenn.).
