-- Catherine Meredith (Fr.) scored her team-best 12th goal this afternoon at Kenyon, but the host Ladies rolled to an 8-1 North Coast Athletic Conference victory in Gambier, Ohio. The loss lowered the Oberlin field hockey team's record to 5-9 (3-6 NCAC), while Kenyon improved to 11-5 (6-4 NCAC).
Kenyon out-shot the Yeowomen 50-14 and held a 16-13 advantage in penalty corners to avenge a 1-2 loss at Oberlin on Sept. 20. The Ladies were paced by Julia Sivon, who scored two goals and also had an assist.
Oberlin's Lauren Malinowski (Jr.) had 20 saves in the contest, while classmate Christine Politis had fives shots and a defensive save. Sophomore Holly Sloofman and first-year Maddie Fierstein both also had defensive saves for Oberlin.
The Yeowomen will host Wittenberg University on Oct. 20 at 4:30 p.m. for their next game.
