November 20, 2006 -- Five members of Oberlin's field hockey team, juniors Christine Politis, Ashley Allen, and Lauren Malinowski, sophomore Abigail Brox, and first-year Catherine Meredith, were named All-North Coast Athletic Conference by the league's coaches. Politis, a midfielder, and Brox, an attacker, both received first team honors, while Allen received second team accolades at the forward position. After her third season in goal for Head Coach Deb Ranieri, Malinowski was named honorable mention All-NCAC, as was Meredith, a forward.
A powerful hitter, Politis kept defenders honest this season with her strong ability to push the ball up the field. She finished the year second in the North Coast Athletic Conference in shots per game (4.76). Brox was named the NCAC's Newcomer of the Year after a stellar rookie season, and she continued to impress in 2006 as well, finishing sixth in the conference in points per game (1.29) and goals per game (0.59).
Allen directed Oberlin's offense throughout the 2006 campaign, leading the team and finishing fifth in the NCAC in assists per game (0.41). Meredith had an incredible debut season for the Yeowomen, finishing second in the NCAC in goals per game (0.88) and third in points per game (1.76). Malinowski concluded the season first in the NCAC in saves per game (12.06) and third in save percentage (.792).
