Oberlin Harriers Compete in Otterbein Invitational

September 22, 2007 -- The Oberlin cross country team traveled to Westerville, Ohio, today to compete in the Otterbein College Invitational. With nine of his top runners taking the day off from competition, Head Coach Ray Appenheimer's Yeowomen placed sixth out of 16 teams, while the Yeomen placed 14th out of 16 teams.

The Yeowomen were led today by senior Alex Petek and junior Elizabeth Fabis. Petek placed 46th with a time of 24:56 in the 6,000-meter race, while Fabis placed 47th (24:57). The Yeomen were paced by senior Andrew Pike, who placed 73rd with a time of 29:14 in the 8,000-meter event. First-year Kiron Roy clocked in at 29:27, good for 77th place.

Next Saturday, the Oberlin men and women will venture to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the Roy Griak Invitational. The races will begin at 9:00 a.m.
