-- The Oberlin harriers voyaged to the University of Minnesota this morning to run in the Roy Griak Invitational. Both teams boasted strong days at a meet that featured some of the top teams in the nation. The Yeowomen placed 14th out of 42 teams and the Yeomen placed 15th out of 32 teams.
First-year Joanna Johnson continued her great season by placing 26th overall with a time of 23:49. Junior Nicky Ouellet and senior Marie Barnett placed 48th and 49th, respectively, with times of 24:23.4 and 24:23.5. Also running a solid race for Head Coach Ray Appenheimer was senior Alison Doniger (109th place, 25:09).
The women's team finished just 27 points out of ninth place, which would have beaten the fourth-ranked team in Division III.
For the Yeomen, junior Conor Doss led the way with a 47th-place time of 27:16. Classmate Ryan King finished just behind Doss in 27:43 (69th place), while Everett Schlawin rounded out Oberlin's top three with a 91st-place time of 28:10.
"Overall, it was a good and fun day. We got to compete against some of the best teams in the country today," Appenheimer said.
