Yeowomen and Yeomen place first and third, respectively, at Kenyon
-- The second weekend of action for the Oberlin cross country was even better than the first, as the women's harriers repeated as champions of the GLCA's this morning in Gambier, Ohio. The Yeomen also had a showing, as Head Coach Ray Appenheimer's squad placed third.
Leading the Yeowomen was first-year Joanna Johnson, who placed second overall with a time of 19:22. Junior Nicky Ouellet placed fourth (19:31), and junior Maddy Davis-Hayes crossed the finish line in ninth place (19:51). For the Yeomen, junior Conor Doss led the team with a seventh-place effort of 27:16. Classmate Ryan King finished close behind Doss, earning an eighth-place finish (27:27). First-year Justin Warner also had a great race, placing 13th with a time of 27:41.
Said Appenheimer, "This was the best this team has done since I've been at Oberlin. Both the men and women took a risk and ran aggressive races, and it definitely paid off."
On September 22, the Oberlin harriers will travel to Columbus to compete in the Otterbein Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
