Yeomen and Yeowomen Compete at NCAA Regionals; First-Year Joanna Johnson Qualifies for NCAA Championships

November 10, 2007 -- Oberlin's harriers trekked to Calvin College (Mich.) this morning to compete in the Great Lakes NCAA Regional Championships. The Yeowomen finished in fifth place out of 36 teams, while the Yeomen placed 19th out of 38 teams.

After very narrowly missing out on repeating as NCAC champions, the Yeowomen had hoped to place fourth or better at today's regionals. With their fifth-place finish, an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships is still not out of the question. The field for the NCAA's will be selected tomorrow afternoon.

Joanna Johnson will not have to wait to compete at the national level, though. The first-year sensation placed ninth overall (22:03) out of over 200 runners to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Senior Marie Barnett was second on the team with a 28th-place time of 22:53.

The Yeomen were paced by Conor Doss's 60th-place time of 26:24. Everett Schlawin placed 91st with a time of 26:44.
