October 10, 2006 -- The Oberlin women's cross country squad, led by Head Coach Ray Appenheimer and standout sophomore Maddy Davis-Hayes, recently entered the national rankings. Thanks to an excellent start to the 2006 season, including titles at the GLCA's at Earlham and the Otterbein Invitational, the Yeowomen are currently ranked 28th nationally in Division III.
The preseason favorite to win the North Coast Athletic Conference title, Oberlin is the highest ranked NCAC squad in the country. Kenyon College will visit Oberlin for a dual meet on October 14, before the Yeowomen compete in the NCAC Championships on October 28. Appenheimer and his squad hope to take advantage of good karma at the conference meet, as the event will take place at the site of their GLCA victory on September 9, Earlham College (Ind.).
