Oberlin Falls Short in Final Game in Arizona

Verne’s Words: Inside the 2008 Spring Break Trip to Phoenix for the Oberlin College Baseball Team

March 27 –The Oberlin College baseball team finished its’ nine game stand at the Greater Phoenix Invitational Thursday evening with a 15-10 loss to Castleton State.

First-year pitcher Brandon Cantrill took the loss going four innings – giving up four earned runs.

The Yeomen (4-9) were led offensively by their first-year players.  Phil Brua connected 4 times with an RBI and two runs scored.  Ben Kauder aided Oberlin’s run total when he hit a three run triple in the fifth.  Ryan Mouch had two hits and so did junior Jeremy Simon.  

The Yeomen head back to Oberlin after going 4-5 in Arizona and will look to resume North Coast Athletic Conference action in Hiram, OH Saturday and Sunday with twinbills scheduled each day.
