May 2, 2007 -- Oberlin's baseball team voyaged to Gambier, Ohio, this afternoon to compete in a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against Kenyon College. In their final two NCAC games of the year, the Yeomen were defeated by the Lords, 2-7 and 0-7. With the losses and two games remaining on the 2007 schedule, Oberlin's record is now 15-23 (6-10 NCAC). With the wins, Kenyon improved to 19-15 (7-7 NCAC).
Sophomore slugger P.J. Carter led the Yeomen today at the plate by going a combined 3-4 in the two games. Senior Jesse Cullen-Dupont was quick on the base paths as well, swiping four bases to give him 23 total steals on the year. Despite earning the loss in the opener, first-year Jack Dunn (5-6) struck out five batters to increase his season total to 72. He now owns the single season school record for K's in a year. Fellow southpaw Troy DeWitt '04 held the previous record of 70, set during his senior season in 2004.
Oberlin will play its last two games of the season on Saturday by hosting non-conference foe Lake Erie College (13-22). The doubleheader against the Storm is slated to begin at noon.
