March 31 –
Oberlin College first-year student-athletes Taylor Fey and Joanna Johnson earned North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors in their respective sports of women’s lacrosse and track and field, the league office released on Monday evening.

Fey, a native of Raymond, Maine (Hebron Academy), guided the Yeowomen to a 2-1 recorded during the team’s west coast swing as she scored 20 goals and dished out three assists.

In Oberlin’s first win of the season she scored a team-high 10 goals – as the Yeowomen needed every one of them to outlast Pacific 22-20.  She followed that performance with five more goals in a 15-9 win over Linfield, before completing the week by finding the back of the cage five more times against the University of Puget Sound.

Johnson, who has already received numerous accolades from the league office, added to her awards list completing the 10,000 meter run in 37:41.01 to finish second overall at the Bayou Classic.

The Chico, Calif. (Chico HS) native’s time is just six seconds back of the national-qualifying time in this being just her first run through the 10,000-meter as a collegiate athlete.
