Oberlin Announces 2006 Senior Scholar-Athlete Award Winners

May 27, 2006 -- The Oberlin College Department of Athletics and Physical Education has announced the winners of the year's senior scholar-athlete awards.

Headlining the outstanding group are two top honorees and recipients of the NCAC/John Stern Award. The women's winner is Meg Reitz, a field hockey All-American and multiple letter winner in basketball and lacrosse. The men's honoree is David Wilson, a first-team All-Conference and All-Ohio player in men's soccer.

Other winners include Rosemary Mudry (field hockey and track), Honda Scholar-Athlete Award; Evan Childress (soccer), Lysle Butler Award; Katie Dover-Taylor (softball), Beth Sebian (soccer and lacrosse), Kate Oberg (softball), Laurie Stein (soccer), and Katie Au (volleyball and track), Gertrude Moulton Award; and Joe Sheehan (baseball), Jared Pickard (lacrosse), Craig Betchart (swimming), Chad Kutting (football and baseball), and Thomas Limouze (swimming), Andrews Family Award.

New to this year's honors is the Norman Goldring Award, given to the four-year athletics participant with the highest grade-point average among all senior scholar-athletes. The inaugural participants, both with perfect 4.0 GPAs, are Laurie Stein (women's soccer) and Noah Streib (men's soccer and baseball).
