Oberlin Sports Teams and Individuals Earn Academic Honors
Track and field, swimming and diving, women's lacrosse, and tennis teams shine in and out of the classroom

August 22, 2007 -- Four of Oberlin's athletics teams - track and field, swimming and diving, women's lacrosse, and men's and women's tennis - recently earned accolades for their top-notch performances in the classroom during the 2006-2007 academic year. The men's and women's track and field teams both earned All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track and Field Coaches Association for earning team grade-point averages of 3.17 and 3.36, respectively. The College Swimming Coaches Association of America honored both the Yeomen (3.29 GPA) and the Yeowomen (3.55) for their stellar academic performances last year. The women's swimming and diving team ranked fourth in all of Division III, while the Yeomen ranked eighth. Also, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association named Oberlin an Academic Honor Squad after the Yeowomen posted a team cumulative GPA of 3.168. Lastly, five Oberlin tennis players received Scholar-Athlete honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Graduated senior Barrie Newberger and junior Maddy Davis-Hayes earned individual All-Academic honors from the USTFCCA, while graduated senior Callie Gropp and rising senior Elizabeth Gula received All-Academic accolades from the IWLCA. For the men's tennis team, seniors Colin Burling and Ezra Goldman and sophomore Jordan Maseng received academic honors from the ITA for recording GPA's of at least 3.5. For the women's tennis squad, graduated senior Bianca Barr and rising senior Jackie Golden earned academic accolades.
