Ray Appenheimer Finishes Fourth in Cleveland Marathon
Oberlin's Head Cross Country and Track Coach clocks in at 2:36.54 in first marathon

June 28, 2007 -- In his first-ever marathon, Ray Appenheimer, Oberlin's Head Cross Country and Track Coach, finished in fourth place recently at the 30th Annual Cleveland Rite Aid Marathon. The 34-year-old clocked in at 2:36.54, just five minutes off from first place. Appenheimer, the winner of the 1999 United States Cross Country Championships, had never run longer than 7.5 miles in a competitive race.
