Dedicated in September 2003, the much-awaited Climbing Wall and Bouldering Cave has been a most welcome and well-received addition to the Philips PE Center. Designed and built by NICROS, the 25 foot four-sided pillar has seven anchors for top-ropes, including two for lead climbing. An approximately 360 square-foot bouldering cave offers additional challenges.
With over 1,000 holds of all shapes and sizes, there are routes providing opportunities for climbers of any ability to develop their confidence and climbing skills, build strength, challenge themselves and have fun.
Instruction in bouldering, climbing, belaying, and eventually lead climbing and belaying a lead climber are taught by Climbing Wall Supervisors, Oberlin College students with interest, enthusiasm and additional training.
