Based on Robert Altman’s 1978 witty and satirical film, A Wedding depicts the comedic drama of two hilariously dysfunctional families during a couple’s wedding. Plots overlap and relationships—both familial and otherwise—intertwine throughout the course of a single day in this vivacious new opera, which was first performed in 2004. Veteran composer William Bolcom’s score is every bit as complex as the plot, encompassing a concoction of musical styles including snappy sambas, extractable arias, and the swing and sway of rock and Broadway.

*Subscription includes both operas
