The story of Cinderella has taken many forms, from 16th-century fairy tale to 20th-century film. Massenet’s 19th-century operatic version, Cendrillon, was a hit from the moment it premiered in Paris, and it has been enchanting audiences ever since with its timeless romance. The familiar characters—evil stepmother, charming prince, fairy godmother, and maid-turned-princess—come to life in the love duets, coloratura flourishes, and grand waltzes of Massenet’s ravishing score.
Sung in French with English supertitles.
“Cendrillon … is certain to charm you. … A captivating night in the theater is assured.”
