Tickets: Free, ticket required*
Location: Finney Chapel (directions)

Formed in 2002, Soweto Gospel Choir has quickly become an international sensation. Within one month of existence, the group reached the top of Billboard’s World Music Chart with their debut album Voices from Heaven. The group performs both traditional and contemporary music, infusing their performances with rich harmonies and energetic dancing. Soweto Gospel Choir has received two Grammy Awards and recently collaborated with rock legend Robert Plant on a Fats Domino tribute album, with proceeds going to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The choir continues to tour the world extensively, performing at major venues and festivals such as Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Edinburgh Festival.

“[The choir] has a cornucopia of remarkable voices: sharp, sweet, kindly, raspy and incantatory leads above a magnificently velvety blend… the music was both meticulous and unstoppable… the songs were both spirited and spectacular.”
