¯     American Academy in Berlin – Berlin Prize Fellowships

Fellowships for 2006-07 for scholars, artists, and professionals who wish to engage in independent study in Berlin for an entire academic semester.  Candidates must be US citizens or permanent residents and have completed their doctorate degree at the time of application.

¯     Dactyl Foundation for the Arts & Humanities – Grants to Writers

A $1,000 award for essays on literary theory, aesthetics, or poetics, which are grounded in science, is available.  An essay may be submitted by the author or nominated by another individual at any time.

¯     University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition

The University offers an international prize in recognition of outstanding achievement by a living composer in a large musical genre: choral, orchestral, chamber, electronic, song-cycle, dance, opera, musical theater, extended solo work, etc.  Nomination is required, and self-nomination is not allowed.
