The following is a sample of recent accessions received by the Oberlin College Archives for the period 2 January – 29 March 2002.
Accession 2002/002

Albert A. Wright Papers (30/17), consists of geological field notes (2 vol.) of Albert A. Wright. Includes notes on Lorain County and Northern Ohio (1892-96), gas wells in Oberlin and Lorain County (1901-02), and notes on various locations in Michigan and Ohio (1902-03). 0.08 l.f.

Accession 2002/007

A binocular microscope, c. 1905-1908, Carl Zeiss and Jena, stored in its original wooden case. Also included are accessories (i.e., lenses, clamps for viewing base) and needles used to examine hair follicles.

Accession 2002/008

Environmental Studies Program (9/20), lot of records relating to the Oberlin College Environmental Studies Program (established 1980) for the period 1968 to 1991. Consists of annual reports, course materials, Environmental Studies majors, correspondence, colloquium and conferences, newsletters, personnel files, Mellon Grant applications, NEH grants, financial records, and subject files (i.e., recycling, Nova Incinerator). 13.75 l.f.

Accession 2002/035

John M. Ellis Papers (30/345). Lot of papers relating to John M. Ellis, Oberlin College Professor of Greek and Philosophy, 1858-1894. Consists of records of the monthly rhetorical exercises of Oberlin, July 1852 - June 1858, September 1865 - November 1875; and March 1876 - June 1881 (3 notebooks)); grade books for Rhetorical Exercises and Philosophy courses, Fall 1858 - Winter 1875/76, and Greek, 1858-1865 (2 books); one notebook containing bibliographic citations with index (pages 1-62), and notes on the subject Xiainty sp? (pages 100-157) ; reprint and photocopies of articles re: Theodore Horatio Ellis, 1945, and dismissal form from Oberlin College, (copy), 1889; photocopies of Genealogical charts, 2002; photographs (originals and photocopies) of family members and Oberlin College athletic teams and theatrical performances, 1880s; photocopies of certificate, 1864, and article, 1894 re: John Ellis; printed matter and copies re: Emily Cumings Ellis, 1922, 1924, and H.H. Cumings, n.d.; and printed matter of Oberlin College, including pictorials, annual report of 1897, and brochures and event notices, c. 1886-1895. Total volume: 0.4 l.f.
